Is erection dysfunction just a part of old age? |
Erection dysfunction does not have to be a part of getting older. It is true that as you age, you may need more stimulation (such as stroking and touching) to get an erection. You might also need much time between erections. However, older men should still be able to get an erection and enjoy sex. | |

What is the best treatment for ED? |
There is no best one single treatment for ED, we believe that thorough assessment by experienced medical professional would help understand the underlying causes of ED in patients. Treatment program should be tailor-made for each patient. The popularity of oral medication such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, may help some patients (effective on 60-80% patients); some of them may be unfit for oral medication. People who have chronic heart diseases, poor liver or kidney functions, or those who take specific groups of medications are all unfit for oral medication. Furthermore, oral medications do not cure the problem. They do not improve the psychological burden of patient, either. |

Should I try over-the-counter medications for erectile dysfunction? |
It is strongly objected to try the un-registered medication on the market. There is no guarantee of their safety and effectiveness or the purity of their ingredients. These medications may cause severe health problems, such as hypotension (low blood pressure), hypoglycemia (low blood glucose), acute renal and liver failure and even death. |

Why premature ejaculation seems to be improved after taking alcohol or recreational drugs? |
Taking alcohol or recreational drugs may delay the time of ejaculation sometimes for some patients as their minds are desensitized, but it can be dangerous to health as patients become dependent on them. |
|
14. |
Is there a promising treatment for premature ejaculation? |
From our experience, combined therapy with medication, counseling and behavioral therapy is the best approach to PE management. However, if PE is caused by other physical factors, such as erectile dysfunction, the underlying factors should be handled first. PE will be improved gradually when the underlying causes are cured. |

Do you use Chinese medicine or herbal medicine for treating ED/PE? |
We only prescribe approved and registered Western medications in Hong Kong. Recent studies have shown that herbal supplements either are ineffective, or can cause dangerous side effects. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a consumer warning regarding dangerous ingredients in certain dietary supplements. Recent local reports have shown that the un-registered medications for ED/PE available on the market or over the internet can be hazardous to patients. |
