Traditional Circumcision

The overgrown section of the foreskin is surgically removed to make the glans exposed. The wound is usually sealed by dissolvable stitches. The surgery can be done in outpatient settings under local anesthesia. The whole operation takes 30-45 minutes and requires no hospitalization. Life can be back to normal right after the surgery and urination will not be affected. Symptoms will normally reside after 3 days of surgery and painkillers can be taken if pain persists. The stitches will disappear in 7-10 days and sex life can be resumed after 3-4 weeks.

Postoperative care in traditional circumcision usually involves masking the penis with a half paper cup. Pain arises when the wound is touched by the paper cup and the inconvenience caused by projected lower part even in loose clothing.

Laser Circumcision

In laser circumcision, the excess foreskin is removed with a laser beam. The laser beam also stops bleeding from the skin, resulting in a very tidy wound. This technique allows exact proportions of skin and mucous membrane to be removed. The whole operation takes only 20 minutes. The wound does not require cleansing in one week and full recovery is expected in 3-4 days. As less postoperative pain will occur, less painkiller is needed compared to traditional surgery.
